María Jose Carrascosa, who has been in jail in the USA for three years, has been found guilty of child abduction in removing her child from the US to Spain in 2005.
The story made all the major Spanish papers on Friday, 13 November, as well as the day´s newscasts. It was also mentioned in US on-line news sites, including nj.com.
The tragedy is that the child, now nine years old and living in Valencia, has not seen her mother for almost two years or her father for over five.
Apparently authorities in the US and Spain are trying to mediate a solution. While the US courts have insisted that the child be returned to the US apparently her passport is in the hands of the Spanish authorities.
