Various Spanish associations promoting shared parenting arrangements recently constituted the “Unión de Federaciones y Asociaciones por la Custodia Compartida.” The purpose of the Unión is to promote changes to Spanish divorce law that will facilitate co-parenting after divorce.
One of its member groups, “La Terraza,” was interviewed last week by the Spanish news association, EFE, as reported in Informestelecinco.com. The association, based in Bilbao, compares Spanish divorce law unfavorably with the laws of northern European countries such as Denmark, where shared custody arrangements are the norm.

Some food for thought: what if Spanish divorce law does eventually change, and shared parenting is encouraged (if not mandated)? Will parents be ready to co-operate with each other? Will they have the skills to co-parent? What help will be available to them?
